A Hull to Hold the Waves at Bay is a journey of self exploration viewed through our interaction with our surroundings and the strategies we implement to manage our mental health. It contemplates the mechanisms created to lessen the burden of our symptoms. My own experiences are intertwined in each layer of this project, exploring the stories of others and my own. With the camera affording me the time to meditate on these processes the work has become collaborative and conversational.
The work presents a culmination of the difficulties and frustrations with personal growth and exploration. The momentary calm, the warmth and the fleeting clarity are juxtaposed with a melancholic tension.
