A study of how my Great Grandad, Jimmy Jobson, a trawler skipper, carried the love of his job through everyday life, and subsequent conversations with present day trawlermen, helped me to understand the blurring of the lines between professional and private lives that is such an intrinsic part of this industry.
The photographs of the trawlermen at home, wearing their uniforms, enabled me to portray this. The archived photographs of Jimmy as well as the self-portraits help to strengthen the thread between past, present and family connection.
