Dunkirk Every Thirty Minutes
At the start of Operation Dynamo, the initial number of troops estimated to be evacuated was 45,000 men in forty-eight hours. However, the operation was to become the biggest evacuation in military history.
338,226 Allied soldiers were successfully evacuated while under attack by relentless German forces. In addition, a total of 140,000 French, Polish and Belgian troops were also evacuated from Dunkirk.
Dunkirk Every Thirty Minutes recalls the brief moments in time when the beach was beautifully quiet, peace amongst the chaos. A visual representation of personal memories of Garth Wright, and to commemorate all Allied troops involved in the evacuation and those who served. Including the preservation of personal historical memoir of an event only 78 years ago.
An estimated 40,000 British troops never made it home.
This project Marks the 78th Anniversary of Operation Dynamo.
