Something Silver, Something Black
Born in Sarajevo, Bosnia, is a personal psychological exploration of post-war trauma, following the events of the Bosnian war in 1992-1995. Through a series of interviews conducted in January & February 2020, I gathered pertinent insight and stories from the conflict and how the country has been moving forward considering the next generation. I used these stories and interactions to interpret the land surrounding the city, and further investigate a conflict which feels as though – almost thirty years later – its consequences are still yet to be uncovered. My focus fell keenly on the smaller details, the fleeting moments, and how animals possess the ability to symbolise this conflict in curious ways.
