Aaron Lovelock – My name is Aaron Lovelock, I’m a photography student graduating in 2020 based in the southwest, specialising in (self) portraits, and working in a conceptual fine art style. Working in both film and digital.
The Work: This body of work, is a part of my final major project at Plymouth College of Art. The work was to be displayed at Free Range 2020. The project is called ‘Don’t Feed The Ghosts’. DFTG was my way of raising awareness for the unfortunate rise in suicides every year. In 2018, there were 6,859 recorded cases of people taking their own lives in the United Kingdom. With this in mind, I wanted to create a heavy body of work, as a combination of documentary and philosophical photography, to help convey the emotions from people going through their lowest points. I wanted to create this to be a conversation point, for someone to think about themselves and their friends and families.
Don’t Feed The Ghosts is a representation of who I am as an artist and a person, and this work is a reminder to not give in to the ghosts.
