My main body of work at the moment that I’m still creating is focused around the story of my dads’ affair and the mental ‘trauma’ that can be caused by this.
Un-named Woman: Statistics state that 40% of marriages will end in divorce, with around 50-60% of males committing adultery. The long-term effects of psychological trauma can be consistent for the members affected. For some mental healing can be found in a quiet, meditative space. As a result, a landscape could be used as an emotional escape for tranquillity- a place to pause and be still. For many this could be used as a form of therapy, which could bring a person to reflect on memories that can be fragile or to even re-gain a sense of the norm. What remains are these landscapes that stand as a reflection of the human’s relationship with nature. This work entails a series of landscape, portrait and archival documents; that illustrates the need of mental healing due to the outcome of a divorce.
